A BRIEF HISTORY OF NASHIK COMMISSIONERATE

Prior to the reorganization of Central Excise Commissionerates in Nov, 2002, Nashik Commissionerate was a part of Aurangabad Commissionerate. Till the early 80’s it was part of Pune Commissionerate.

 

With a modest beginning of just a Divisional office under Pune Commissionerate in 1950, Nashik has grown to become an important Commissionerate contributing significantly to Central Excise  Revenue.

 

The second Division was setup in the year 1990 for the Ambad Industrial Area. A third Division was setup in the year 1999 . The aspirations of the Officers of Nashik was realized when a fourth Division was also setup in the year 2002 with the formation of a Central Excise & Customs Commissionerate with its Hqrs at Nashik.

 

 

Nashik Central Excise & Customs, Commissionerate has jurisdiction over the Revenue Districts of Nashik, Dhulia, Nandurbar, Jalgaon & Sangamner, Akole Taluka of Ahmednagar District. The Commissionerate Office and 4 Divisions are located at Nashik, and  one Division at Jalgaon.
